Phoebe enters the cast as a quirky outsider you see in so many teen-focused films, but it doesn’t take long for her to prove she’s the one with the real brains here – always an excellent way to flip the script.In THE BABYSITTER: KILLER QUEEN, Cole ( Judah Lewis) is starting high school. She winds up stealing nearly every scene from Judah Lewis, although the two are enjoyable to watch together. However, the film suffers without the delightful presence of Samara Weaving as the bloodthirsty babysitter, Bee.Īs far as performances go, Jenny Ortega as the new girl, Phoebe is the one to watch here. Cole’s former babysitter’s resurrected cult-mates are just as enjoyable to watch on screen as they were the first time around. There’s also plenty of blood and guts to be enjoyed here – much more than you saw in the original, which is as it should be with this type of sequel. You’ll definitely groan at some of it, but there are some fun moments you’ll enjoy, as well. (The premise is more or less the same as the original, so the extra color hardly hurts.) The Babysitter: Killer Queen is packed with raucous, MTV-style humor and almost too many pop culture references for comfort. However, it also gets a lot looser and harder to believe.ĭepending on what you’re looking to get out of the experience of watching this, you may like this film’s splashy, over the top approach just fine. Cole once again finds himself facing the Satanic cult from the original film, complete with nearly all of its original members. However, things get pretty dicey from there. When Cole realizes that his parents are planning to send him away for psychiatric care, he and Melanie escape together to the lake for the weekend. However, the only person in Cole’s life who doesn’t believe he’s gone entirely bananas is his friend Melanie (Emily Alyn Lind). Understandably, he’s still haunted by the experience of nearly being murdered by his babysitter and her friends. The plotline of The Babysitter: Killer Queen picks up with Cole (Lewis) two years after the horrific events of the previous film. The film also sees the return of many of the actors from the original, including Bella Thorne, Hana Mae Lee, and Robbie Amell. Judah Lewis returns as the ill-fated, traumatized lead, Cole Johnson.
